Sizing, Condition, and Care
Sizes vary greatly in any vintage collection. With our selection ranging from space-age future to tie dye retro, it's important for shoppers to be aware of a garment's measurements and fabrics before buying.
Contemporary sizing charts should be considered the standard in regard to new items and Hunt & Gather Originals.
Dimensions of each item will be described in detail on their specific product pages, along with additional comments or recommendations on fit, along with original manufacturer, colors, fabrics, and size.
All measurements are taken flat, edge to edge, unless otherwise stated. Please allow for 1-2" ease, especially if fabric is rigid without the ability stretch. Measurements taken across the garment, horizontally, are doubled to list full distance of fabric around the body.
Most of our mannequins are size small and relatively tall.
Please inquire directly on product listings via the "Ask a question" button for additional measurements or with questions about product detail, fit, or condition. We are happy to help you.
Please remember that vintage garments have had a life of their own and may show signs of normal wear. Vintage items are sold "as is". Each is described to the best of our ability and with our customers in mind.
Each hand-picked garment is given special attention. Garments are steam cleaned and looked-over for flaws before landing on clothing racks in-store or online. Some are reworked, restitched, or otherwise upgraded. Any remaining character adding flaws will be mentioned in the product description.
Inquiries about specific garment condition can be sent with the "Ask a question" button on each product listing page.
We recommend hand-washing and hang-drying anything that looks like it should be handmade or otherwise unique, ie, custom or especially artistic garments, pieces with extensive patching or stitching, sequins, fine materials, etc. Dry cleaning is also recommended over machine wash and dry in most cases.
A majority of our garments carry their original tags and washing directions. While these are usually a good bet to follow, keep in mind the current condition and level of wear of the garment when preparing to wash.
New items and Hunt & Gather originals will carry their tags as well, including modern washing and drying notes.
